Since the start of her professional comedy career in the early 1980s, Kathy has labeled herself as a 'D-List Celebrity' - referring to her 'almost, but not quite yet' level of celebrity. She began improvisation / standup work at the LA comedy club 'The Groundlings'. During the late 80s and early 90s she maintained small roles and guest appearances on television shows and sitcoms, but her big national debut took place with her first solo HBO special in 1996. Finally awarded with her own cable tv reality show on the 'Bravo' network, she has been able to rapidly increase her fanbase and national exposure. Griffin is controversial, but hilariously entertaining.
