The blues-inspired Southern rock band was born in Georgia. Starting out as a local cover band in 1985, they decided to integrate the popular cover songs with some of their own original work. 'Sleepy Monkey' was their first single - though this was before they had any recognition beyond their small home-town in Athens, Georgia. One year later (in 1986), they had created a number of original songs and were ready to lay it down on a record. In 1987, the band had their first professionally-recorded album released and continued their Georgia-based shows. Their national 'arrival' came in 1992 after joining a major record label and have enjoyed nationwide prominence from then on.
